Be in the Zone today

Observe yourself today!

Be the observer of your thoughts and the incessant chatter of your mind.

Observe your emotions. These are your thoughts made into felt sensations by the body.

Breathe and ask yourself ‘How do I feel right now?’

By going inwards beyond the surface distractions of your external life you can sink deep into the core of your being – your inner body has wisdom.

Do this several times a day – choose those ‘odd’ moments when nothing much is going on and you can withdraw your energy into yourself and be deeply observant.

Pain underlies so much of our difficulties in life. We search the surface of our world for love and relief and happiness only to find these are fleeting moments soon gone. Only below the surface of our external, habitual experience of life can we find transformation, inspiration and profound creativity. How do you know you are living on the surface? You spend a great deal of time planning and imagining how much better the future will be. You live for tomorrow – the next plan, the next success, the dreams you hope to achieve Stop. Realise that tomorrow never comes, and if it does it will not be as you expected. Take back your power and imagination and reinvest it in the present moment. Observe. Breathe. Smile and do not judge.

Take your time

Take time to lie back and just be. This is the New Year and it’s an opportunity to reach out of the mind and into the inner worlds of your infinite being..

To be alone with your Real Self is a blessing. We miss that blessing if we let our thoughts take control. Thinking takes us away from the NOW unless you are there with your thoughts!

So watch your thoughts and select the useful ones. Pop the other ones in the infinity of nothingness that is around and within us at all times. To not be aware of the inner dialogue is a kind of madness of humanity. Don’t try to stop thoughts. Just acknowledge them and smile. That is enough.

Today? don’t take it personally

Life happens.

Most of us live our lives from habits we formed in childhood.  We don’t even know we have them most of the time.  Its only when those habits no longer serve us that we question why we do the things we do.  We respond on automatic, live our lives in a daze of activity and rarely step outside the habits we have formed.  Don’t let that person be you today.

By taking ten minutes every day to focus inwards you can immediately reverse a life time of habit.  When you see the rewards of observing yourself kindly and with love, you will return to your daily dose of calm with great enthusiasm.

If you find yourself asking WHY is this happening to me, know that your moment of awakening has arrived.  You are being given the gift of self awareness – the possibility to transcend your habits and live from the core of your being.  Life challenges us just for this reason – to give us the gift of awakening from the dream of who we think we are.  No amount of reading books or studying ideas or following others will help us.  They are the pointers for us to go inside and experience the deep inner wisdom that is our source.  They are a help but they are  not the experience itself.  Go beyond them.

There is no time like the present time

Grasp the moment and walk your talk!

Sit for a moment and ask yourself ‘What will matter most to me in a year’s time?  What is really important for me to focus on in my life right now?’

Taking time to go inwards and breathe into your heart will help.  The answers very often do not lie ‘out there’ in the material world.  Taking action based on a deep inner conviction of what your soul is asking you to do is much wiser than struggling on.

While we remain in a body – literally embodied – we have time to fill.  Notice how you fill that time up.  Is it full of creative and loving activity and deep inner reflection?  Is it full of fear-led distractions that may seem like a comfort at the time but actually drain our life force?  Can you make an intention today to enjoy more of this journey in ways that contribute to the good of all?  Do not delay.  Human life is not endless.

How to sit with your worst fears

You are in crisis,  a crisis of fear and anxiety.  Well if not today you probably had that last week or the week before or it’s coming.  We live in the age of anxiety.  Fear creates this.  But some of my fears are real! Yes, that is so.  But it does not help you.

To change the feedback loop the mind has created in order to help us survive we must find a way to bypass the fear messages that create more anxiety and pain.  We do not need to go into denial and repression.  That is also the old way.

I am going to ask you to sit with your fears and deeply feel them.  To sit in silence with fear is terrifying to most of us.  We will create endless distractions, diversions and addictions to not sit with the fears in silence.  But beloved ones, the FEARS want to be heard and seen.  Then they will evolve into powerful wisdom and action that creates love not more fear.

So sit.  Sit in the evening light.  Wake at dawn and sit.  Take yourself to the toilet during the day and sit.  It takes but a moment to breathe deeply into the body and feel.  Women have always done this and some men too.  Sit with your worst fears and watch them evolve.  You have more power and wisdom and insight than you will ever know until you sit in the silence of love.

Third party Insurance – emotional rescues

Does it work when you try to sort others out?

I get people who try to refer their partners to me for a session – and it very rarely works out.  Or they want their grown up children to get help.  Or it’s their parent or friend.  I love a referral but I need to speak directly to the person concerned – not via a third party.

When you notice yourself trying to sort out other people’s problems, stop and ask yourself:  Is this person an adult?  Are they physically and mentally able to communicate themselves?

Hard though it may be to step back, it is often the most powerful thing to do (emergencies excepted of course).  By suggesting a course of action we show concern.  But if we try to ‘organise’ a course of action for someone else it often fails because it is not empowering for them.  They may feel like you know the answers and they don’t.  So step back.  Let them come to you for advice by all means and share your opinions wisely.  Then take a deep breath and climb back into your own energy, your own power and sense of self.  This offers the other person a space to breathe themselves.

The most powerful and healing tool in the work I do is the power of my own Presence (my achingly alive awareness of the present moment and of the profound inner self who speaks through me at these times).  Cultivate your own sense of Presence.

The World has Gone Mad

When world events disturb and upset us – what can we do?

The most powerful way to create change is to take your attention inwards. Do this first in your breath. Then scan your body with your mind. Notice how it feels. This creates inner body awareness that opens the gateway to Presence – your conscious connection to the divine source. Once you experience that connection, go deeper. Dive into the Divine and you will find a wordless presence that will do more good in this world of ours than any amount of worrying.

THEN take action – action that springs from your inner wisdom that will be powerful and guided and gut felt. This is the opposite of the reactive response most humans experience that comes from the unconscious mind and is always unhelpful.

Several times a day make it your practice to connect to this inner source of being that we call Presence. Soon Presence will be with you when you wake and will guide our world to healing and peace.

Do you get irritable and annoyed with yourself?

Tough day?  Could be you are suffering from your inner critic.

Just one of those days?  or  a repeating pattern in your life.  It’s just how I am – or could I change this pattern of irritation and annoyance?

Your inner critic is a learned response to stress.  I bet you had a critical mum or dad (and bless them, because they were doing their best and so are you.)

Let’s see if we can work out what the pay off is.  Say to yourself ‘When I criticise myself it …..’  Could be in a strange way it relieves the tension for a moment (but does it create more in the long term?)  Could be it is a habit – something you do as a displacement activity when you can’t grasp a task or haven’t the energy to work out a solution.

Once you realise that this inner critic saps life energy and can become a habit that sends you on a downward spiral you may decide to observe it more closely.  Let it rip – do not try and stop it or it will go underground to emerge even stronger.  Get help from a trained therapist.  Talk to a good and wise friend.  Notice if anyone in your circle of family and friends is also critical of you.  What is inside of us tends to get reflected outside too.  The universe is there to help us see ourselves for the radiant beings of light we truly are.  The inner critic is the voice of ignorance and despair.  Would you want that to continue on and on in your mind space?  No, I thought not.  By observing the inner critic you are stopping sending it unconscious energy.  You are reversing a habit that is unhelpful.  You are gaining self knowledge.

Say No Today if it isn’t working for you

Speak up or remove yourself from the situation

When life gets tough you have a choice – surrender and accept how it is on the inside and then work to put things right as best you can.  Or surrender to the fact that it just isn’t working or it’s plain wrong and remove yourself from the situation.

Both scenarios require surrender on the inside.  Surrender means accepting things as they are and taking responsibility for your part in this.  Do not confuse this with surrendering to someone or a situation out of weakness.  Battle can be done in a state of inner surrender but it will feel completely different because you will feel a strong sense of self or presence or connectedness that makes it the right thing for you to do.

When we are connected to our deep inner self – the innerbody wisdom I speak about often – we experience presence, or a Presence, or a deep sense of being powerfully here and now.  We can cultivate that level of being within ourselves and it will change the outer world that we experience in very interesting ways.  Begin the day with a moment of intense quietness.  Invite your body to surrender any tension or inner conflict for that moment.  Notice how your body reacts to this gentle invitation.  Do this every day and then start to do it during the day at odd moments.  You are reversing generations of human distress and fear by allowing yourself to surrender your own tensions for a moment or two.  What we do for ourselves we also do for others.  Recognise this is a time of importance for the future of the human race and commit to your own process  of inner surrender.
